This didn't come from a textbook. It came from my life.
I was born in New York City and raised in East Orange, with my teen years spent in Newark, New Jersey. I'm the only child between my parents, and the oldest of five siblings — in my family, there's no such thing as "half."
I was the oldest child, carrying everyone's expectations early. Earning the scholarships. Doing the "successful" thing on the outside, while running on survival patterns nobody ever taught me to name — shame for things that weren't my fault, guilt for things I didn't yet understand, apathy that formed after carrying too much for too long, grief that showed up early and stayed longer than it should have, and fear that convinced me to stay small even when I was meant to grow.
Growing up between New York City, East Orange, and Newark, I saw brilliance everywhere — curious kids, scholars, artists, leaders in the making. I also saw something else: many of those same brilliant people were quietly carrying emotional weight that no one ever taught them how to name.
I gained access to a roadmap through higher education, travel, and coaching — access that many people from my community never got. Each generation had to recreate that map for themselves, because it was never shared, and never finished.
Once I learned to recognize the patterns, something shifted. Life stopped feeling random. I realized growth could actually be practiced. EPIPHYSIS is that practice, put into a framework other people can use too.
This work doesn't only come from my own story. It's shaped by everything I've learned from my family, from clients, and from community members who've trusted me with their own experiences. Every conversation adds to the map.
